i am very good at braiding my own hair. i have never tried yarn braids before, but have done it perfectly well. i hungered to have it on my own hair. i don’t always like my hair braided by market women who tend to pull the hell out of your hair. i mainly have my hair done by myself or the two stylists i trust to handle my hair. well braiding of hair is bankrupting now and i plan doing my hair most of the time.
well for the braiding yarn, i got two packs of brown yarn and four packs of black yarn. and cut it into my desired length. to prepare your yarn, detect the mouth, i.e the beginning of the yarn and hold it. look for something standing straight up that you can wrap the yarn around as you unravel it into your desired length. make sure its equal and smooth. you can trim off uneven ends. you can opt for shorter back length and a longer front length so that when you pull it into a ponytail, it will be equal and beautiful. you wouldn’t like an uneven ponytail. remember it’s a wool and not hair. the amount of yarn strands you use, determine the thickness you will get. i used 12 strands to get the thickness you see in the above picture. you can opt for more or less, depends on what you want.
i prepped my hair by washing and deep conditioned. i started almost immediately on a damp hair. i started from the back. i had trimmed few inches off my that day to remove knots and split ends. i did that before i deep conditioned. i have been finger detangling and my hair ends up with knots and split ends. i will look for better ways to detangle my hair with wide tooth comb.
i was disappointed with my DC because my dried dried, i mean bone dried before i could finish my braiding. i used water and pink oil moisturizer for slip as i went up my crown. i will be looking for better ways to deep condition for for moisture. i am a newbie into this natural thing. so thanks for stopping-by.
i moisturize ny hair with water and seal with raw shea butter

flat twisted updos
two strand twist vz updo
After my first perm rod style, i have been finding it difficult to do natural hair styles on my hair. But I took up the courage to try this style. My inspiration came from Aisha the author of www.myfroandi.com
She was my style icon. So after washing my hair, I deep conditioned and sectioned my hair into two. The front half was flat twisted to my choiced side. I parted the front side into a u-shape before flat twisting. The back was pulled into a high pony tail and secured with a band. You can added gel for sleek look. I used a styling mousse for hold. So I tied my hair down with a satin scarf. I oiled my hands with olive oil and undid my twists olive oil and viola! That was it.

It has been ages since i posted last. have been trying to figure out ways on how to blog with ease. but thank God that i’m back. My first permrod wasn’t just planned. I loved the outcome. i have been envying those curls and i decided that i was going to buy some permrods. i bought three pakcets with each having 16 permrods and the three packets was 48 permrods in all. so i had already washed my hair and deep conditioned the previous day. so i set to work. i spritzed my hair with water and sealed with shea butter. i didn’t used any curl forming lotion or mousse, and that was why my curls was messed up the next day. But i was happy though, that my first trial was a goal
Hello!!! Hmm my natural hair journey was never planned. I was natural in 2013,my hair was ugly. Even people around me testified to it. But I loved it that way. I never had a clue on how to take good care of my hair. My hair was severely breaking and I never knew that I was the cause. I abused my hair. My hair was very short and I never knew that I was killing it by forcing it into tight ponytails with rubber bands. Oooohh what a mess.
The greatest frustration I suffered was when I washed my hair without detangling it, I neither deep conditioned. I had the worst matted hair and experienced great shrinkage. It was uncombable after washing. How I wished I knew about intensive hair care as of then, I would have saved my self the great mistake I made.
I ran into the market and bought a relaxer and headed to the salon. I permed my hair and was relieved to see my new silky smooth hair. I never knew about protective styles, protein treatments, I was just nonchalant. I still regret it today.
